The 1970 Pot Black was the second year of the professional invitational snooker tournament, which was broadcast in 1970. The tournament was held in Birmingham, and featured eight professional players. All matches were one-frame shoot-outs.

Broadcasts were on BBC2 and started with an introductory program at 21:45 on Monday 23 March 1970.[1] This year, the tournament moved to a round-robin format with two groups of 4 and the top two players from each group would qualify to the semi-finals. Alan Weeks took over as presenter with Ted Lowe remaining as commentator and Sydney Lee as referee.

The two finalists from the previous year met again but the result was in reverse. John Spencer beat Ray Reardon 88–27 in the one-frame final broadcast on 6 July.[2][3]
