İstanbul State Art and Sculpture Museum (Turkish: İstanbul Devlet Resim ve Heykel Müzesi) is a museum in İstanbul, Turkey.
The museum is in Dolmabahçe Palace in Vişnezade neighborhood of İstanbul. The building, just like the rest of the palace, was built in 1856. It was the mansion of the crown prince. On 20 September 1937, upon the suggestion of Mustafa kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Turkish Republic, it was converted into a museum.
There are paintings, sculptures and moulage by the Turkish and foreign artists in the museum. Most of the paintings are oil paintings. Some of the artists, whose works are exhibited, are Pierre Bonnard (1867—1947), André Derain (1880–1954), Henri Matisse (1869–1954), Pablo Picasso (1881–1973) and Maurice Utrillo (1883– 5 1955).
As of 2005, the number of exhibited items are as follows; 3,977 paintings, 672 sculptures, 80 calligraphy artwork (Arabic script typeface) and 107 ceramics.[1]
