Çor

Çor refers to Jinn in Altaic, Mongolian and some Turkish folklore. It is thought as an invisible entity created from fire, however it becomes visible when it dies. Unlike the İye, the Çor is not a tutelary spirit. They are thought to be responsible for several mental disorders. This entities are thought to inhabit desolate places such as abandoned houses or ruins. They fear iron, and under Islamic influences, they are thought to disappear after reciting the Basmala. Despite being generally feared, they are not necessarily evil in nature.[1] This term is also linked to the Russian term Chort, referring to evil forces like demons or the devil.
