Days of the Week (Hari-hari dalam Seminggu)

  • Sunday = Minggu
  • Monday = Senin
  • Tuesday = Selasa
  • Wednesday = Rabu
  • Thursday = Kamis
  • Friday = Jum'at
  • Saturday = Sabtu


Note that Minggu can also translated as week.

Contoh (example):

Minggu ini = This week

Minggu depan = Next week (literally: depan = front)

Minggu lalu = Last week (literally: lalu = past)


Week can also be translated into pekan, such as in the word weekend which means akhir pekan (akhir = end; pekan = week)

Adverb of Time (Kata Keterangan Waktu)

  • Today = Hari ini (literally means this day)
  • Yesterday = Kemarin
  • Tomorrow = Besok
  • Day after tomorrow = Lusa

For some people (e.g. Javanese), besok can also means several days ahead. It can mean the next 2 or 3 days, or even the next week.

Months (Bulan)

In Indonesian, bulan means both month and moon. This is the list of months in Indonesian:

  • January = Januari
  • February = Februari
  • March = Maret
  • April = April
  • May = Mei
  • June = Juni
  • July = Juli
  • August = Agustus
  • September = September
  • October = Oktober
  • November = November
  • December = Desember

Note that the Indonesian use dd-mm-yyyy date format. So, in Indonesia, 10-11-2016 means November 10, 2016, not October 11, 2016.
