Originally found in the 8th supplementary set of China's GB 18030 coded character set for information exchange in 2001. Most of these characters were designated for use in placenames.

Subsequently found as a nonstandard character of simplified by analogy (類推簡化字/类推简化字) in 《漢字源流字典》 (an etymological dictionary published in 2008) and Hanyu Da Zidian漢語大字典》 (2010 edition).
