From Proto-Turkic *kuŕgun (“raven”). Cognate with Karakhanid قُزْغوُنْ (quzɣūn, “raven”) Old Uyghur [script needed] (quzɣun, “raven”), Bashkir ҡоҙғон (qoðğon, “raven”), Turkish kuzgun (“raven”).
