Etymology

First attested in the Seokbo sangjeol (釋譜詳節 / 석보상절), 1447, as Middle Korean 드리다 (tulita). From 들— (deul-, “to enter”) + (i-, causative suffix) + (da, declarative ending). Compare 들이다 (deurida, “to allow in”).
