Suffix
—ᆫ다 • (-nda)
- A present tense plain style declarative suffix.
- A plain style monologic interrogative suffix; usually used with interrogative words.
Usage notes
The suffix —ᆫ다 (nda) is directly attached to the stem of a verb ending in a vowel or with the consonant ㄹ (l), which is dropped, e.g.
- 가— (ga-, “to go”) → 아빠가 일하러 간다. (Appaga ilhareo ganda., “Dad goes to work.”)
- 갈— (gal-, “to replace”) → 아빠가 형광등을 간다. (Appaga hyeonggwangdeung-eul ganda., “Dad changes the fluorescent lamp.”)
If the stem ends in a consonant other than ㄹ (l), 는다 (neunda) is used instead. This is directly attached to the stem, as well.
