ἀλλοδαπός

Ancient Greek

Etymology

From ἄλλος (állos) and perhaps some Proto-Indo-European *-n̥kʷo- seen in Latin prop-inquus. See also Proto-Germanic *-ungō and perhaps original ποδαπός (podapós), which would be from Proto-Indo-European *kʷodn̥kʷós and lend its d to other forms.
