KHMER INDEPENDENT VOWEL QAQ

[U+17A2]
Khmer
[U+17A4]

Khmer

Letter

(’ɑɑ’)

  1. Deprecated independent vowel, no longer used. Use instead.

Usage notes

The independent vowel and the consonant look identical. After the Unicode alphabet was used for a few years, it became clear that having two separate but visually identical letters was confusing and led to a lot of misspellings. It was decided that the symbol should be used for both the consonant and the vowel.
