ไข้ใจ

From ไข้ (kâi, “fever”) +‎ ใจ (jai, “heart”); literally "mental fever".

ไข้ใจ • (kâi-jai)

1. (idiomatic) heartache; heartsickness.

     Should it be a fever that only increases ailments, it will easily be treated by any medicine. All those various fevers could be dealt with by anybody. But when it is a mental fever, we better give up our lives! Then, you two can only think of awaiting the time to arrange a funeral for both of us.

     As Yang Biao and Zhu Jun were walking in the middle of their way, Yang Biao conferred with Zhu Jun, saying: 'We are public officials and have enjoyed His Majesty's patronage in the government service. Now that His Majesty Xian the Emperor is being in dire straits, if we ignore him, we will be labelled ingrates! It is appropriate for us to nurture the nation and establish His Majesty in peace and prosperity.' Then they embraced each other's neck and began to weep till they fell down unconscious at that very place. Once having regained consciousness, each of them returned home. As for Zhu Jun, he came down with a mental fever and died.

     จิวยี่ได้ฟังดังนั้นก็มีความยินดีดังขงเบ้งเอายาทิพย์มาทาลงให้ โรคซึ่งเปนไข้ใจนั้นก็หาย จึงลุกขึ้นคำนับขงเบ้งแล้วสั่งให้ทหารไปปลูกโรงพิธี

     Having heard so, Zhou Yu was delighted as if Kong Ming had descended with a divine medicine and applied it upon him. Thus his condition that had been worsened by a mental fever did recover. He then rose to give Kong Ming a courtesy and directed his soldiers to build the altar.

     He knew so well that no physical fever could do anything to Rinnali. But for a mental fever, who could ever caress the wounded heart and free it from torment?
