Possibly from Sanskrit प्रश्रेष्ठ (praśreṣṭha, literally “very excellent”); perhaps via Old Khmer praseṭṭha, prasœra, prasergga (“excellent; magnificent; superb”). Compare Modern Khmer ប្រសើរ (prɑsaə), Pali paseṭṭha.

   • Mark 10:18, KJV:

     ท่านเรียกเราว่าประเสริฐทำไม ไม่มีใครประเสริฐเว้นแต่พระเจ้าองค์เดียว

     tân rîiak rao wâa bprà-sə̀ət tam-mai mâi mii krai bprà-sə̀ət wéen-dtɛ̀ɛ prá-jâao ong diao

     Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.
