ประวัติศาสตร์

Thai

Etymology

From ประวัติ (bprà-wàt, story; event; happening) + ศาสตร์ (sàat, science); controversially believed to have been coined by King Rama VI (1880–1925 CE) to replace the term พงศาวดาร (pong-sǎa-wá-daan); also believed to have been coined by Prince Dhani Nivat (1885–1974 CE), as the term is first attested in his work published in 2460 BE (1917/18 CE).
