From Angkorian Old Khmer drvaṅ (“breast; chest”). Compare Old Khmer drūṅa, Pre-Angkorian Old Khmer droṅ. Cognate with Modern Khmer ទ្រូង (truung), Lao ຊວງ (sūang).

1. (formal, elegant) breast; chest.
   • อนิรุทธ์คำฉันท์:

     จึงวาดนแน่งโฉม อนิรุทธราชา นางเอาขดานมา บันทับทรวงก็ไห้โหย อ้านี้แหละรูปท้าว อันมาชมมาชายโชย

     jʉng wâat ná-nɛ̂ng chǒom · à-ní-rút-tá raa-chaa · naang ao kà-daan maa · ban-táp suuang gɔ̂ hâi hǒoi · âa níi hlɛ̀ rûup táao · an maa chom maa chaai chooi

     So they drew Anirut the fair lord [on a slate]. She took the slate up and pressed it against her chest, saying in tears: "Ah! This, indeed, is the picture of the prince who came to court and caress me!"
