From Proto-Southwestern Tai *ɡraːmᴬ (“indigo”), from Proto-Tai *ɡ.raːmᴬ (“indigo”), from Old Chinese 藍 (OC *ɡ·raːm, “indigo”).[1] Cognate with Lao ຄາມ (khām), Shan ၶၢမ်း (kháam).
