Feminine form of the elative adjective أَفْصَح‎ (ʾafṣaḥ, “purest in language, most eloquent”), derived from فَصِيح‎ (faṣīḥ, “pure in language, eloquent”). The noun is derived from the expression لُغَة عَرَبِيَّة فُصْحَى‎ (luḡa ʿarabiyya fuṣḥā, “pure Arabic language”).
