  1. to be jealous - عَلَى (ʿalā) (of a beloved one), مِنْ (min) (of somebody as a rival)
  2. (intransitive, + عَلَى (ʿalā, for), + مِن (min, against)) to show a jealous sort of protectiveness.
    لَنْ أَدْخُلَ‏ دَارًا‏ لِرَجُلٍ لَا يَغَارُ عَلَى ٱمْرَأَتِهِ.
    lan ʾadḵula dāran lirajulin lā yaḡāru ʿalā mraʾatihi.
    I won't enter the house of a man who isn't protective of his wife.
  3. (intransitive) to be jealous (envious) (+ مِنْ (min): of)
