From Middle Persian lwcyk' (rōzīg, daily bread, sustenance), from 𐭩𐭥𐭬 (rōz [YWM], day). Compare Old Armenian ռոճիկ (ṙočik), Old Georgian როჭი (roč̣i), როჭიკი (roč̣iḳi), Classical Syriac ܪܘܙܝܩܐ (rōzīqā), ܪܙܩܐ (rezqā), Arabic رِزْق (rizq), all Iranian borrowings.
