  1. to be ignorant of, not to know (with بِ (bi) or transitive)
    • c. 1150, Al-Ghazali, The Revival of Religious Sciences :
      وَمَنْ جَهِلَ قَلْبَهُ فَهُوَ بِغَيِرِهِ أَجْهَلُ
      waman jahila qalbahu fahuwa biḡayirihi ʾajhalu
      And whoever ignores his own heart is most ignorant of the rest (of his affairs)
  2. show oneself ignorant (عَلَى (ʿalā) in)
