ג׳ירפה

Hebrew

Etymology

Ultimately from Arabic زَرَافَة (zarāfa), further etymology is disputed. Perhaps from Persian زرناپا (zurnāpā, giraffe), a compound of زرنا (zurnā, flute, zurna) and پا (, leg), or from Classical Syriac ܙܵܪܝܼܦܵܐ (zarāfa).
