From Proto-Semitic *ʾanθ-at-. Cognate with Ugaritic 𐎀𐎘𐎚 (ảṯt), Aramaic אִנְתְּתָא‎ (ʾintəṯā), אִיתְּתָא‎ (ʾittəṯā), Arabic أُنْثَى‎ (ʾunṯā).
