  1. (transitive) to divide, to separate, to isolate; to detach, to loose, to remove
    մեկնել ի ստենէmeknel i stenēto wean
    թուղթ մեկնելոյtʿułtʿ mekneloybill of divorce
  2. (transitive) to stretch, to hold out, to stretch forth
  3. (transitive) to explain, to interpret, to comment upon
    թիւր մեկնելtʿiwr meknelto interpret malignantly, to misconstrue, to put an ill construction on; to preach a perverse doctrine
  4. (in the mediopassive, intransitive) to separate, to disunite, to part, to get loose; to remove, to go away, to depart, to retire, to go out, to make off, to steal away
    մեկնել ի ցամաքէmeknel i cʿamakʿēto bear off from the shore, to take sea-room, to stand out to sea
