Etymology

Possibly from Proto-Indo-European *treh₂ǵ- with a prothetic ա- (a-) and cognate with Ancient Greek τρώγω (trṓgō, chew, eat), τράγος (trágos, he-goat).[1][2][3] Related to արօտ (arōt).

  1. (transitive) to cause the herd to graze, to pasture
  2. (figuratively, of fire) to burn down
  3. (usually in the mediopassive, intransitive) to graze, to pasture, to feed
    արածել զհողմսaracel zhołmsto cherish vain hopes, to build castles in the air
