Etymology 2

Perhaps from Proto-Indo-European *h₂endʰ-, with cognates including Tocharian A ānt, Tocharian B ānte (surface), Sanskrit अन्धस (ándhas, sprout of the Soma-plant), Ancient Greek ἄνθος (ánthos).[1]

Alternatively, from Proto-Armenian *and- (door-frame, vestibule) (whence դրանդի (drandi)) with a semantic shift “door-frame, threshold, vestibule” → “court, courtyard” → “estate; household; family” → “the outer part of estate/properties”.[2][3] See դրանդի (drandi) for more.
