From Vulgar Latin *incaballicāre, from Late Latin caballicāre, present active infinitive of caballicō, from Latin caballus (horse).[1] Compare Aromanian ncalic, ncãlicari; cf. also Italian incavalcare, Catalan encavalcar, Occitan encavaucar, French enchevaucher, Spanish encabalgar, Portuguese encavalgar, encalgar, Sardinian incaddigare, incaddare.[2]
