From Old Persian 𐎺𐏃𐎠𐎨𐎼𐎴 (vahā-čarana, market-walkabout), probably from Proto-Iranian *wahā-čā̆rana- (sell, traffic) (compare Persian بها (bahâ))— the first and latter elements whereof ultimately deriving from Proto-Indo-European *wes- (to buy, sell) and *kʷel- (to turn, revolve) respectively.
