vrëndë
Albanian
Etymology
A methatesized formation from earlier *vëndër, from Proto-Albanian *ŭ(n)dərā, from Proto-Indo-European *wedʰrom. Compare Old Church Slavonic ведро (vedro, “fine weather”), Old Norse veðr (“wind, air, weather”), Old English weder. Alternatively from Proto-Albanian *awa-renta, a derivative of rend (“to run, to hurry”).
