trocir

Galician

Etymology

Attested in local Medieval Latin documents as traucire, meaning "to lead; to cross".[1] Probably from Latin trādūcire (I lead across) or alternatively from a descendant of Proto-Germanic *þrukjaną (to press on), but both etymologies are objectionable.[2]

Verb

trocir (first-person singular present trozo, first-person singular preterite trocín, past participle trocido)

  1. (archaic) to swallow
    Synonyms: engulir, tragar
