From Proto-Albanian *tsangila, with *ts- prefix, from Proto-Indo-European *h₁óngʷl̥ ‘charcoal, coal’; compare Lithuanian anglìs, Serbo-Croatian ȕgalj, Sanskrit अङ्गार (áṅgāra).[1]
