ta'

Danish

Verb

ta'

  1. Eye dialect spelling of tage.

Maltese

Etymology

From Arabic مَتاع (matāʿ, thing, possession). A variety of related forms exists throughout Mediterranean Arabic. In eastern dialects, the unrelated adjective تَبَع (tabaʿ, belonging) is also used in a similar way, and there is evidence that both forms may have been merged in some cases (compare Egyptian Arabic بتاع (bitāʿ)). However, the forms in Maghrebi dialects, from which Maltese has sprung, seem to be based on مَتاع (matāʿ) exclusively.
