From stucco (plaster, stucco) + -are, borrowed from Lombardic *stucki (crust, fragment, piece), from Proto-Germanic *stukkiją, *stukkijaz, *stukō, *stūkō (stick, beam, stump), from Proto-Indo-European *stAug- (stalk).
