sigrún f (genitive sigrúnar, plural sigrúnar or sigrúnir)

  1. victory rune; a rune thought to have been imbued with a magical power to grant victory
    • Sigrdrífumál stanza 6:
      Sigrúnar þú skalt kunna,
      ef þú vilt sigr hafa,
      ok rísta á hialti hiǫrs,
      sumar á véttrimum,
      sumar á valbǫstum,
      ok nefna tysvar Tý.
      Victory runes you must know
