Etymology

Enlargement with the collective suffix -dh(ë) of variant shparr.[1] Alternatively from Proto-Albanian *is-pardza, from Proto-Indo-European *perǵ- (compare Lithuanian pérgas ‘fishing canoe’, Polish próg ‘threshold, doorstep’).[2]
