- Any of several species of birds, the males having a brilliant patch of metallic red on the throat.
- Archilochus colubris, the ruby-throated hummingbird.
- Two species of genus Luscinia, Luscinia calliope, the Siberian rubythroat, and Luscinia pectoralis, the white-tailed rubythroat.
- Pycnonotus dispar, the ruby-throated bulbul.
