rubythroat (plural rubythroats)

  1. Any of several species of birds, the males having a brilliant patch of metallic red on the throat.
    1. Archilochus colubris, the ruby-throated hummingbird.
    2. Two species of genus Luscinia, Luscinia calliope, the Siberian rubythroat, and Luscinia pectoralis, the white-tailed rubythroat.
    3. Pycnonotus dispar, the ruby-throated bulbul.
