rri

Albanian

Etymology

From Proto-Albanian *rina, from Proto-Indo-European *h₃er- ‘to move, stir’, compare Ancient Greek ὄρνυμι (órnumi) ‘to raise; arouse; stir up’, Sanskrit ऋणोति (ṛṇóti) ‘to rise, move’.[1] Alternatively, perhaps from Proto-Indo-European *h₁reid- ‘to lean’; compare Ancient Greek ἐρείδω (ereídō) ‘to prop, support’.[2]
