Etymology
From rrenë, with -g enlargement. Alternatively related to vrangull, literally to put in the middle of a circle, to be at the centre of everybody's scorn. Similar sense development in Italian prendere in giro, to scorn, pull someone's leg, lit. to take sb for a ride (in circle), to make sb spin around.
