Via other European languages (cf. Czech reproduktor “loudspeaker”), ultimately derived from Latin re- “again” + producō “to produce”, in nominalized form (suffix -tor), i.e. “one which reproduces.”

1. loudspeaker (electromechanical device that converts an electric signal into audible sound)

2. breeding farm (a place, building, farm specialized in producing young animals, especially pigs)

   sivēnu reproduktors - vienstāva kūts, 2,5 ha platība - jau uzcelts un dod produkciju ― the pig breeding place - a four-storey barn, 2,5 ha of surface - has already been built and is producing

   sovhoztehnikuma saimniecībā uzbūvēs reproduktoru sivēnu iegūšanai ― the Sovkhoz (=Soviet collective) farm will build a breeding place to get more pigs
