From Old Anatolian Turkish [script needed] (qonuq)[1]. Ultimately from Proto-Turkic *Kon- (neighbour;friend; guest), whence also Azerbaijani qonşu (neighbour). Compare Turkish konuk (guest), Crimean Tatar qonaq (meeting room), Chuvash хӑна (hăna, guest).
