Etymology

From Ottoman Turkish پزونك (pezevenk), پوزونك (püzevenk, pözevenk), from Middle Armenian բոզաւագ (bozawag), from Old Armenian բոզաւագ (bozawag).[1]

Alternatively, from Persian پژوند (pažavand, pažvand), پژاوند (pažâvand, pimp). It may be a cognate of Azerbaijani pəzəvəng (huge, churl, berk, lout).
