murske

Finnish

Etymology

murskata + -e

Noun

murske

  1. crushed stone
  2. (with modifier) crushed material
    tiilimurskecrushed brick
    puumurskecrushed wood

Usage notes

  • In principle, murske is the product of crushing something on purpose and murska is a by-product or something that occurs naturally. The usage is not completely logical, though. E.g. "crushed ice" is usually called jäämurska even when produced on purpose for drinks etc.
