merre
Hungarian
Etymology
Lexicalization of mely (“which direction? which place?”, interrogative pronoun) + -re (case suffix).[1]
Pronunciation
- IPA(key): [ˈmɛrːɛ]
- Hyphenation: mer‧re
Adverb
merre
Usage notes
Merre? is more vague than hol? when asking about a place. Hol can easily imply asking for the exact address (or at least the specific location), while merre will be content finding out the neighborhood, the district, or perhaps even only the direction (in accordance with the first meaning).
