From Proto-Albanian *ambi-witja, from Proto-Indo-European *with₂-.[1] Compare Sanskrit व्यथते (vyáthate, to sway, to tremble), Avestan 𐬀𐬌𐬡𐬌𐬚𐬏𐬭𐬀 (aiβiθūra, strong, unwavering), and Icelandic viða (to waver, swing).
