From Proto-Albanian *(a)lōu-m- '(threshing-, malting-)floor', with enlargement in -mo- or -mn/men-. Cognate to Ancient Greek ἀλωή (alōḗ, (threshing-)floor), Old Norse lófi ((threshing-)floor), Old High German lam (lame)[1].
