karhi

See also: kärhi

Finnish

Etymology

Most likely karhea + -i. Derivation from a root *karča (twig) has also been proposed; in which case the word would be akin to Moksha кархча (karxča), Hill Mari карша (karša), though this seems unlikely due to an absense of cognates elsewhere in Finnic.[1]

Pronunciation

  • IPA(key): [ˈkarɦi]
  • Hyphenation: kar‧hi
