Some commonly used collocations may be written both ways: ilmiselvä / ilmi selvä, ilmiliekki / ilmi liekki, ilmiriita / ilmi riita, and yet others are always closed: ilmiantaja, ilmianto, ilmiasu, ilmitulo.
