Etymology

From Ottoman Turkish بیومك (biyümek), بويمك (büyümek, to increase in size, grow, to rise in rank or importance), from Proto-Turkic *bedü- (to become bigger, grow).[1]

Cognate with Karakhanid [script needed] (beδü-, to grow up), Old Uyghur [script needed] (bedü-, to grow, increase), Azerbaijani böyümək (to grow up), Tuvan бедиир (bädïïr, to rise, go up).
