Etymology
Cognate with Lithuanian mánkyti (“to knead, to press, to crumple”), and more distantly with Lithuanian mìnkyti (“to knead”), Latvian mîcît (“to knead”), Old English menġan (“to mix”). See *mę̀knǫti for further etymology.
