Etymology

Either from Proto-Indo-European *bʰews- (dross, sediment) or r-Turkic pora ("a grey kvas-like drink").[1] Alternatively reconstructed by Kroonen as *beurą, a dissimilation of earlier *breurą, derived from *brewwaną (to brew).[2]
