Etymology

From Arabic رَبِيع (rabīʿ, spring). A near homophone is Arabic رَابِعَة (rābiʿa), the feminine of رَابِع (rābiʿ, fourth), from أَرْبَعَة (ʾarbaʿa, four). Hence Rabia can also mean "the fourth female".
