From Slavic, compare Lower Sorbian górka and Polish ogórek, from Byzantine Greek ἀγγούριν (angoúrin, cucumber), from ἀγγούριον (angoúrion), diminutive of ἄγγουρος (ángouros), from ἄγουρος (ágouros).[1][2].
